Bath bombs are a fun way to add some health benefits to your bath time routine.
The baking soda and epsom salts in the fizzy bath bomb recipe are great for restoring pH balances to skin and releasing lactic acid from tough work outs (or a physically demanding day) and you can even add essential oils to pack in even more benefits and customize them to your own individual needs.
For our 4th of July Bath Bombs, we went with a trio of scents indicated by the color of each star. Use all three for a combined effect, or stick to one color to concentrate on that essential oil benefit.
How to Make Fizzy Bath Bombs for 4th of July
First, gather your ingredients:
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 1/2 cup epsom salts
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1 tsp water
- 2-3 tablespoons coconut oil
- 3 essential oils of choice
- Natural food dye (optional)
Stir together the citric acid, corn starch, epsom salts, baking soda, and coconut oil.
Add just enough water (or additional oil) to give the bath bomb mixture a consistency similar to wet sand.
Divide the bath bomb mixture into thirds and dye one third blue and another third red. We used natural red food coloring which is why we didn’t get a “true red” as you’ll see in the pictures.
Scoop about 1 Tablespoon of the mixture into each star mold and let sit 6 hours or overnight. (Cover the rest of the bath bomb mixture in the meantime to prevent it from drying out.)
Once the bath bombs are dry (or are halfway there) add your essential oils. Just one or two drops per star bomb bomb should do it.
For our bath bombs … (essential oil choices.)
Pop the stars out of the mold and store in a mason jar in the bathroom until ready to use.
What are you doing to celebrate 4th of July? Will these fizzy bath bombs be making a splash in your bathroom anytime soon?
