As many of you know, I recently started homeschooling my two boys against my will. Homeschooling took me by surprise and forced me to jump in with out many resources and no time for planning. It was overwhelming to say the least. Even though I had taught for 12 years, I didn’t know the first place to turn for homeschool curriculum. I knew what I believed as a teacher, and I knew how to teach, but the thought of purchasing a homeschool curriculum scared me more than anything. That’s when I took to using Pinterest as a resource for free homeschool curriculum.
I have always been a HUGE fan of Pinterest. I am an extremely visual person and I tend to have the bad case of mommy brain. Pinterest helps with that. When I find an idea I like or want to remember, I just “Pin It”. In the past I have used Pinterest to plan parties, meal plan, and even plan my wedding; so it only made sense when I started homeschooling to plan my lessons with Pinterest as well.

I bet that transitioning from teaching to homeschoolin was a big change! Thank you for linking up to the Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop!
Thank you. It was a huge change. We are learning how to make our way through the much.
I love that you use pinterest for curriculum planning!! We do too, and I feel that people look at me like I’m an alien when I tell them. You have some great resources here :).
I am such a visual person. When I need to plan I just head over to pinterest, search and start pinning 🙂
I agree that nowadays homeschoolers, especially with teaching experience, can find plenty of material online for elementary school grades and avoid curriculums altogether. You have great Pinterest boards – thanks for sharing with Afterschool!

What curriculum do you recommend for someone who is in high school and is about to be home schooled?
Wow, Honestly, I do not specialize in high school so I can not tell you the best option. I would suggest looking into IHomeschool Network or Hip Homeschool Moms for resources.
I use Pinterest to do most of our planning as well. I love it. Pinterest has become my go to resource. I am also a visual person, so planning this way benefits me in so many ways. The majority of our curriculum comes from free resources I find and save. Thank you for sharing.
I, too, put together and do my planning based off of Pinterest. I put together almost all of my yearly curriculum for free. As well as decorating my house..?.
Pinterest is the best resource for so many things. All my Pinterest boards are based off of homeschooling & living really frugal. Either free or nearly free.
Thanks for sharing.
I just realized that I already commented back in April.
Oops!
I started pinning things for homeschool a year ago i think. Now i have lots of boards for all different subjects. I am teaching my 2,5 year old english now, as we live in Holland and most things on pinterest are in english. I figured that might be easier and better then translating everything. I already started to use some of the resources and my boy loves it.
I think i can easily plan a few years of homeschool now with all those pins. And there are so manynice things to find!
