Homemade Playdough Gift Sets

It never fails… we get an invitation to a birthday party, there is a special occasion, or even right before Christmas… I start to panic about what to give the kids. While I prefer to not receive any presents at all, I love making homemade gifts and giving alternative gifts from the heart. That is why I have decided to show you how to put together simple homemade playdough gift sets for any occasion.

What better way to celebrate the Hands On Play Party, than with playdough?

Homemade Playdough Gift Sets

If you are a regular around here, you know how much I LOVE Sensory Doughs! We are in our third month of a year long series dedicated to any and all kinds of doughs used for Hands-on Play. This month we tested 3 popular doughs from Pinterest all in one night. Needless to say, we were left with a lot of dough and needed something to do with it.

Knowing how much the boys (ages 6 and 8) have liked our portable sensory bins, I put the doughs in their own containers, along with a few accessories. That’s when I realized how great these would be as Homemade Playdough Gift Sets. We will definitely be using them as our go-to gift for every occasion from now on.

There are three basic ingredients to the gift set…

Homemade Playdough Filler

Accessories to Foster Hands On Play

Reusable Container with more than one compartment
We LOVE our Sistema containers because they have a compartment for the dough and a small bowl that sits on top for a few small accessories. (BTW, we also can’t live without these for our breakfast on the go)

We put our favorite dough in the bottom section of the container and load the top with a few hands-on manipulatives. Depending on the occasion, you can make 1 container or many. Below I’ve listed some of our favorite fillers, but the possibilities are endless.
