Fidget spinners and fidget cubes seems to be one of the hottest new tools for all kids. Originally designed as a fidget tool for kids that struggle with attention and focus, the fidgets have now become extremely popular with kids of all needs and interests. Even before the ban of fidget spinners in classrooms, we already had a few DIY Lego fidgets in the works. Today, we are sharing our first tutorial in a slew of DIY fidgets. What’s best is this is an easy to follow tutorial on how to make an epic DIY Lego Fidget Cube that even kids can follow.

Ever since we first saw the first fidget cube on kickstarter, we knew we had to have one. But when it took months and months to come in, my oldest started to get super creative. He decided to build his own fidget cube out of Lego, because… well, why not?
While these are his instructions, the goal (as he says) is to get you to be creative and inventive to make your very own fidget cube with moving parts.
How to Build a Lego Fidget Cube out of Pieces You Already Have
What We Used to make our DIY Lego Fidget Cube
We have so many huge bins of random Lego pieces. My kiddo loves technic and robotic Lego sets, so he ends up with tons of gears and joints needed for the perfect Lego fidget cube. While this is our parts list, there are tons of ways to make your own. Challenge your kids to get inventive!

6 – 2×6 Bricks (2456)
3 – 1×6 Bricks (3009)
4 – 1x6x Technic Brics with holes (3894)

1 – Technic Pin with Lengthwise Friction Ridges and Center Slots (2780)
1 – Technic Brick 1 x 4 with Holes (3701)

Now that you have the pieces… let’s get started!
Start with 3 2×6 bricks side by side then build the start of your walls with the pieces you see above. We used the following pieces:
3 – 2×6 Bricks (2456)
1 – 1×6 Bricks (3009)
1 – 1x6x Technic Brics with holes (3894)
1 – 1 x 4 Brick (3010)
Next, assemble your spinner and wall on one side of your cube. We used the following pieces:
1 – 1×6 Bricks (3009)
1 – 1x6x Technic Bricks with holes (3894)
1 – Fabuland Propeller for AeroPlate (4617)
1 – Technic Pin with Lengthwise Friction Ridges and Center Slots (2780)
This is probably my favorite parts to fidget with.
Now it’s time to create your lever for flipping and spinning. We used the following pieces:
1 – Technic Ball Joint (18384 / 32474)
1 – Axle 2 with Grooves (32062)
1 – Technic Cross Block 1 x 3 (Axle/Pin/Axle)
1 – Technic Brick 1 x 4 with Holes (3701)
1 – 1 x 4 Brick (3010)
1 – Axle to Pin connector with Friction (43093)
This is so much quieter than the lever on the real fidget cube. (Teachers and parents will love this).
Now for the gears! This side is so much fun to get creative with! We used the following pieces:
2 – 1x6x Technic Bricks with holes (3894)
4 – Axle to Pin connector with Friction (43093)
2 – Double Bevel Gear with 12 Teeth (32270)
2 – Double Bevel Gear with 20 Teeth Unreinforced (32269)
Isn’t that wall so pretty! By now, your fidget cube is almost done. Just a few sides to go!
For the final side with a wheel. If you like fidget spinners, this is the side your little fingers will love! We used the following pieces:
1 – Axle 6 (3706)
2 – Bushing (3713 / 6590)
1 – Tire Low Profile Wide ÿ 24 x 14 with Band around Center of Tread (24341 / 89201)
1 – Wheel Rim ÿ18 x 14 with Axle Hole (55982)
Wheeeeeee! Seriously, who wouldn’t want to fidget with this all day long? Last step… cover it with 3 2×6 bricks!
Now you have the perfect DIY Lego Fidget Cube that your kids will go crazy for! Better yet, set out a box of Lego
