Simple and Healthy Star Wars Trail Mix

I had a lot of fun coming up with a Star Wars Party Mix to enjoy while watching the new movie, but I also wanted to come up with a slightly more healthy option for the kids to enjoy whenever they wanted. This Star Wars Trail Mix is perfect for lunch boxes, or as an afternoon snack for your little Star Wars fan!

And, bonus: it’s sophisticated enough for parents to enjoy, too!

This trail mix recipe is fun and educational, making it a great option for the kids – especially if you’re doing a Space Unit Study.

If you’re wanting to really explore the inspiration behind this snack, I tried to pick ingredients to represent a nebula – a brightly colored collection of dust and gases in space. They tend to be a gorgeous mixture of pink and yellow, depending on the types of gases that compose each nebula. The one in Star Wars tends to be pink, orange, and purple.

To make this Star Wars trail mix, I added:

  • 2 cups Shreddies
  • 1/2 cup Pretzel sticks
  • 1/4 cup Craisins (dried cranberries)
  • 1/4 cup Yellow raisins
  • 1/4 cup Pink pistachios
  • 1/4 cup Pink & white coconut shreds

Yogurt-covered raisins or candied ginger would also be a fun addition if your kids are fans of those flavors.

If you wanted to make this more of a dessert-style trail mix, you could make the pretzel sticks into light sabers with the help of some candy coating (check the idea out in our 18 Light Saber DIYs post) or you could switch out the Shreddies for Muddie Buddies mix.

To make a fun Star Wars-themed lunch, you could pair this Nebula Star Wars trail mix with star or circle-shaped sandwiches – or even use Star Wars cookie cutters to cut out fun sandwich shapes!

This mix also pairs great with yogurt, just make sure to remove the pistachios from their shells before you mix it in.
