Simple LEGO Slime

First things first… we like LEGO! No, wait, we LOVE LEGO! If you are a regular here, you know just how much and you know we don’t waste an opportunity to turn a play or learning experience into LEGO TIME. I have been itching at the seams to share our newest exploration that was the result of our latest sensory dough experiment. We made LEGO slime! Yep, you read that right! LEGO SLIME! You won’t believe just how simple, too!

I will be the first to admit, slime scares (no wait, scared) me! I avoided making it at all costs because it just looked too good to be true. I just knew I would mess it up. However, after chatting with The Slime Goddess (Asia at Fun at Home with Kids) and reading her slime troubleshooting post, I felt ready to conquer the world. Well, conquer the world of slime.

Making Lego Slime is SIMPLE!!!

2 Ingredient Slime Recipe

We used a classic mixture of Clear Elmers Glue and Stayflo Liquid Starch! We used two bottles of glue to about 1/2 cup of liquid starch (although that measurement is not exact).

For PERFECT slime every time, you have to read the slime troubleshooting guide I mentioned before. The trick in that post is VITAL!

After testing our slime for elasticity, we got to work turning it into the coolest slime in town… LEGO SLIME!

Making of Lego Slime

We decided to use the smallest lego pieces we could find, in hopes that they would actually stay in the slime. (We were pretty nervous they would pop out). We actually sorted out the tiny dots, the flat circles, heads, and even a few legomen, but ended up not using all of the LEGO in our first exploration. However, nothing is stopping you! Add away!Mixing and Kneading Lego Slime

I will warn you, the larger the LEGO, the easier it is to pop through the slime and not mix well.

Roll it!

Stretchy Slime with Lego

Stretch it! Okay, this part was just too fun, so we took it outside to get the maximum stretch.

Stretchy Slime with Legos

We compared the stretch of the slime with and without LEGO and you would never believe how far we got the slimes to stretch!

Awesome Slime Recipe with Lego

The stretchiness of the slime was so mesmerizing. I have to admit, I played with it more than the kids. It was incredibly calming and wonderful for tactile and proprioceptive input!

Did you know you can mold slime? Put it in the refrigerator and out pops any shape you want. We did this when we wanted to excavate the LEGO out of the slime!

Going a Little Lego Crazy

Fun Lego Sensory Activity

After we had played with the slime for nearly a week, we decided to make a second batch. This time the boys wanted to add a little more to the mix. We made it the same way, but this time added LEGO heads. Don’t worry, no Legoman was harmed during the making of this slime.

I actually had to refrain from posting all 100 photos. That face is just too funny!

Super Simple Lego Slime

But it didn’t stop there! You see Bones (age 7) LOVES to make Lego head totum poles. This was no exception!

Worried Out Our Poor LEGO?

Molded Slime with Lego

As I mentioned before, no Lego was harmed in the making or playing of this slime. Due to the properties of Slime, the Lego are quite easy to get out.

Tip: If you stretch and pull gently, the Lego will remain covered in Slime. However, if you apply pressure and force, the Lego literally just pop out, completely clean.

If you are still concerned, vinegar will dissolve the slime and help you clean up any last little oozy traces.
