My daughter has loved playing Pokemon GO! with her uncle this summer, and was devastated recently when their plans to go to a big park were thwarted by thunderstorms. However, she was super excited to help make these Simple Pokemon Sugar Cookies to bring as a treat for their next Pokemon GO outing!

My daughter and I love baking together – it’s a great family bonding activity that results in a yummy treat to enjoy together or a special gift for a loved one. Some of our favorite baked goods to give to friends and family are our best ever chocolate chip cookies and sugar-free banana breads in a mason jar. She was really excited to make and share these with her friends as well as her favorite Pokemon GO! buddy.
These cookies would also be an awesome treat for a Pokemon-themed lunch box or a Pokemon-themed party.
How to Make Pokemon Cookies
First, gather your ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Black frosting
- Red frosting
- White chocolate chips or M&Ms
We chose to use pre-made frosting for our cookies because red and black and the two hardest colors to make – for play dough, icing, or anything else! However, the homemade sugar cookies definitely make up for it!
Cream the butter and sugar together with a mixer for two minutes until light and fluffy.
Add in the eggs and vanilla until incorporated.
In a separate bowl, stir together the flour and baking powder and then slowly add it to the sugar-butter mixture.
Once all of the flour is incorporated into the dough, form the sugar cookie dough into a ball and cover with plastic wrap.
Refrigerate for 30 minutes before cutting into circles.
Bake on a lined baking sheet at 350F for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden.
They will almost look under cooked but still remove them from the oven to prevent burning. Remove to a cooling rack after two minutes.
Once the sugar cookies are completely cooled, use the black frosting and place a line down the centre. Allow it to dry before letting the kids frost one side of the cookies with the red frosting, and then place a white chocolate chip in the center. Circle the white chocolate chip with the black frosting.
Allow for the frosting to dry before eating or wrapping up.
The kids were so pleased with their easy Pokemon sugar cookies, and this is such a simple design that even my 2 year old had no problem following the instructions and turning out a half-decent Pokeball cookie!
Are your kids crazy about Pokemon GO? Will you be making these simple sugar cookies as a special lunch box or party treat?
