It’s true, no one wants to admit their family is in survival mode, especially if you’ve worked your ass off to get past your worst days.

Parents are constantly telling me, “I don’t want to go back to the storms. I want to be past them.”

And when they utter these words, I want to reach out and squeeze them, whisper in their ears,

“But friend, storms are inevitable.”

Storms are a fact of life…

Lets say it together:

Today and everyday
I am enough.

Spending loads of time with your kids doesnt automatically mean youre deeply connected.

Because its not about hours spent playing Monopoly with them - its those tiny moments when you show them youre truly there for them.

Providing small bits of connection, even in the toughest times, makes a world of difference.

Letting them help you cook

Or swinging by their room just to say, I love you

Or a simple Hey buddy, how are you today?

A kiss or just a hug

All these seemingly small gestures hold huge significance and strengthen the bond between you and your child.

They can show them you are on their side and that you’ll support them through thick and thin.

They also build trust, confidence, and a sense of security that will resonate with your child for a lifetime.

💡Remember, you don’t need to be perfect - it’s enough to be present and show your love and support.

Get specific about WHY your kids are so awesome!

Tell them about the qualities you see in them and the things they do...
ask them about the qualities that are important to them -
for themselves, the things they do,
and the people they want to surround themselves with.
Imagine your kid is so excited to show you the plants they grew at school,
and they rant about all the things they learned in the last week.
and you say Cool plants! Thats fantastic.

It acknowledges them, its enthusiastic, and it feels good for both of you!
... but what if you took it up a notch?

Cool plants! Wow, you really got curious about seeds and plants.
Was it hard to be patient and watch them grow?

Using specific words to describe people, actions, and things,
we can deepen and strengthen our connections
and give our kids the words to more clearly understand qualities
they not only want to embody for themselves, but to recognize in others.
