5 Must Have Baby Items No One Tells You About

We’ve all seen the lists. In fact, I even have a resource with over 30 lists of must have baby items. However, how often do we get home with our little one and realize there are things missing from that “list” that we wish we had thought of. Even worse, we think of those things at the worst possible time… the middle of the night with a screaming baby.

Batteries | Almost everything needs batteries. The baby swing, the bouncy seat, the thermometer, even the monitor. It seems that being without batteries is a huge fail that we might have been able to avoid if we had stocked up before the baby came.

Humidifier | I never understood all of the powers of a humidifier before I had a baby. While this isn’t a last minute… ahh I need one now item, this is an item that should be used in the middle of the night in a pinch. Not only is the humidity great for your little one’s breathing, the soothing sounds and soft lights can be just what they need to settle in the for those midnight wakings.

Nipple Cream | Whether you are nursing or not, sore boobs are nothing to laugh about. This is a must have for sure that many people forget to tell you until you are in the thick of a very painful situation.

Thermometer | We all want to make sure that the reason our little bundle is crying is not because they are sick. Those first few weeks, every sneeze, cough or wimper makes us jump and that is completely okay. Having a thermometer (or two) on hand is a sure fire way to ease your worries and know that baby is doing alright.

Milk Test Strips | Every Mama needs a break! Wait… don’t get all upset. Really, I can remember what it was like when I wanted my first glass of wine after I had my babies. I was so nervous to have a glass despite the research I had read. These were perfect for easing my mind just a tad and giving me a break from non-stop newborn phase.
