Day Three

Hope to get accomplished:

• Continue the Deschooling process
• Martial Arts playlist on youtube for Legoman
• Visit Local Library for Free Museum passes for a museum on our list
• Read about Party Hats from other cultures
• Start our Tie Snakes from http://artzooka.com/
• The Great Toy Organization Feat of 2013 (sorting)
• Parts of a Turkey/ Turkey Anatomy Match
• Go on a Leaf Hunt for our Leaf Turkeys
• Introduce Bones to some more of our online games/lessons
• Have both boys read to self
• Read to both boys

Notes for today: 

• Boys with Mr. X last night and tonight. (transition day)
• All 3 kids are sick with runny noses.
• Bones wants to make “Party Hats” from Go Dog. Go!
• Mr. X was almost an hour late
  • Allowing me to set up an exploration…

Actually accomplished…

• Continue the Deschooling process
  • Today more than any other day, this was successful.
  • I am still learning to let go of my idea of “school”
• Martial Arts playlist on youtube for Legoman
• Visit Local Library for Free Museum passes for a museum on our list
  • Stayed over an hour
  • Met the clerk (John-he was homeschooled and graduated college!)
  • Met the Librarian
  • Found books on celebrations, hats, seeds, rainsticks, and poop (Bones)
• Read about Party Hats from other cultures
  • Skimmed the books
  • Found a really cool birthday book that presents a birthday activity from over 30 countries 
• Start our Tie Snakes from http://artzooka.com/
  • See thrift store trip
• The Great Toy Organization Feat of 2013 (sorting)
• Parts of a Turkey/ Turkey Anatomy Match
  • Looked at the diagram
  • Gathered items for model turkey 
  • Bones wants nothing to do with making a turkey
• Go on a Leaf Hunt for our Leaf Turkeys
  • I think they have lost interest
  • See Nature Invitation
• Introduce Bones to some more of our online games/lessons
  • TypingWeb: great typing program and it’s FREE! Fun games and easy to use to Learn to Type
  • IXL:great math practice but it costs money
• Have both boys read to self
  • They wouldn’t put books down today!
• Read to both boys

Things not Planned:

• Nature Exploration
  • We have been collecting different materials for the last three weeks
  • I was feeling hopeful this morning and created an exploration
  • The boys arriving late gave B time to explore the materials 
  • It was a HUGE success and is being requested for tomorrow
• One Hour Long Library Trip
• One Hour Thrift Store Trip
  • We found some pretty amazing things
  • We found all the parts for Legoman’s turkey (Snood included)
  • Bones found a present for Papa Bear’s dad (Papu)
  • I can see so many uses for the things we found
• Legoman had a small meltdown mid-day and Recovered nicely 🙂
  • (I thought we had lost him, and was about to call it a day)
