Actually accomplished…
Begin the Deschooling process- I am having a hard time letting go
- Legoman is all over the place right now with his sensory needs and structure seems to be one of the only things that helps
- I am still having an internal battle about where I fall on the homeschool continuum
- Take 6 month pictures of B :
- B’s photoshoot went really well (this was pre-meetup with the boys)
Try our first Homeschooling Martial Arts Class:- B’s nap fell exactly at the same time we needed to meet the boys
- B and I drove 20 minutes looking for the park
- The class was full
- While attempting to play at the park instead, Bones threw a passive-aggressive fit (All because B didn’t want to be in the swing anymore)
Visit Local Library for Free Museum passes for a museum on our list:- B had finally stopped crying in the car as we pulled up, only to realize it didn’t open for another hour (note to self: check library times near us)
Start our Tie Snakes from http://artzooka.com/Continue working on The Great Toy Organization Feat of 2013- Have Bones and Legoman create their “Day in School” wishlist
- Very successful!
- Not conducive for Deschooling… but allows me to see what they think they should learn all day
Go on a Leaf Hunt for our Leaf Turkeys- While I attempted to feed B and change her and make lunch, I hoped the boys would peacefully find lovely leaves out front. NOPE! Arguments, name calling, stick poking… end of that activity. Try again tomorrow
- Introduce Bones to some of our online games/lessons
- IXL.com (free online math game)
- Both boys did enjoy this and each played for 30 minutes.
- Have both boys read to self
- Bones read Go, Dogs, Go
- Legoman read Bunnicula: Chapter 1
- Legoman practiced the words we made together last week from the chapter
- Read to both boys
- Thank you, Papa Bear!! I was done!
One Day Down!

It looks like you’re starting with fun homeschooling activities. You asked what method of homeschooling we use, and I do unit studies, tying all of our subjects together with one theme. It’s also a lot more hands-on, since I have 3 sons and a daughter. It’s nice to meet you!
Susan, thanks for the encouragement. I truly believe anyone starting this adventure needs to hear encouraging words. I am especially grateful to hear back about your style of homeschooling.
