I am sure that by now you have heard that there is a new Peanuts movie coming out soon. In our house its all the kids can talk about! They are just so excited that when we teamed up with Jewel to make a Peanuts Movie inspired treat the kids were all over it. After a lot of thinking, we think we came up with some really cool Charlie Brown inspired Rice Krispie treats.
Rice Krispie treats are such an easy treat to make that this was a no brainer. In fact, it was so easy, that you could make this snack while the kids set the table for dinner. They are perfect for any Peanuts themed party or just a fun treat to celebrate the release of the new Peanuts movie.

All that is is needed for these simple treats are the main ingredients for Rice Krispie treats. We made one simple adjustment.
2 Bags of Marshmallows (10 oz)
For a limited time, when you shop at your local Jewel or Albertsons, you can get a free Peanuts treat bag with the purchase of three participating brands. I was so happy to find out that our Rice Krispies fit in that category.
Making Charlie Brown Inspired Treats
Making these Charlie Brown inspired treats is super simple. When I say that it is easy, I am not just trying to trick you. I am no fancy chef, and just a regular mom, yet I was able to make these with my kids in just a few minutes and the kids absolutely loved them.
When I had the idea to make them with the kids, I spent some time worried if it was actually possible. I was surprised just how simple it could be.
Following the traditional recipe on the box for Rice Krispie Treats, I made a patch of classic treats. When it was time to put the rice krispies in the pan to cool, I sprayed my hands with coconut oil (this way nothing stuck) and I molded my treats to look like Charlie Brown’s shirt, leaving space for his Chevron Stripe.
Then I made a second batch of Rice Krispie treats but this time I used cocoa Krispies. I knew I only needed half a batch, but I have to be honest I used the whole recipe so I could have extra for the family. Once the batch cooled just a tad in the pot, I sprayed my hands again, and grabbed small balls of the batch to roll into long strips. Then I carefully filled the holes in the pan to fill in the chevron pattern.
I let the batch sit and it then it was perfect!
As I mentioned before, from now until the end of October 2015, you can get a free Trick or Treat bag with your purchase of three participating products at your local Jewel. Just in time for Halloween and the new movie, releasing on November 6th.
