If you are a regular here, you know just how much we love cloud dough. I am not sure how many cloud dough recipes we have now, but it is a lot. We have baby safe cloud dough, the science behind cloud dough and even rainbow cloud dough. Today we wanted to try out some of our favorite essential oils for a yummy gingerbread cloud dough.
Taste Safe Gingerbread Cloud Dough
Many of you know how I have children that like to mouth any and everything I put in front of them, so that is why I have to find a way to make all my recipes “taste safe”. Today’s recipe is just that! (It doesn’t taste yummy… to deter from putting it in the mouth, but it is safe if they do).
Materials Needed for Taste Free Gingerbread Cloud Dough
8 Cups Unbleached Flour
1 Cup Vegetable Oil
Brown Gel Coloring
Essential Oils:
4 Drops Clove
4 Drops Cinnamon Bark
2 Drops Nutmeg
2 Drops Ginger
Almost all of these oils were actually freebies from our essential oil company because we are part of the rewards program. (pretty cool, right)
Making Taste Free Gingerbread Cloud Dough
Making Cloud dough is one of my favorite sensory doughs around because it is so simple. The recipe is super forgiving. In fact, we started with the above recipe but then the kids loved it so much we ended up making more and more by just adding more flour and oil to the big container. The essential oils were enough to carry through a huge batch.
We love how simple it is to make a gingerbread guy with this dough. It is so light and fluffy.
My kids could have played in it all day. Wait, they actually did play in it all day.
Great for fine motor, tactile sensory input and just good ol’ plain fun!
