Homeschooling State by State | Illinois

If you are a regular here, you know that we started homeschooling this year by sheer necessity due to our son’s sensory needs. We didn’t plan on it and in fact I was highly reluctant. That being said, I remember when we first started researching “How to Start Homeschooling” and what the requirements were going to be in Illinois. There was so much to learn and it took so many hours to find all the right resources. That’s why I was so excited when I was asked to join a group of bloggers for the Homeschooling State by State series. Not only will homeschoolers from all over the country link up laws, co-ops, and resources… we are giving away 3 AMAZING PRIZES! Don’t forget to head to the bottom, enter the giveaway, and check out the homeschooling laws and resources for your state!

  1. Hi,
I wanted to add a great website ICHE.org that is the official Illinois state homeschool website. ICHE puts on the Illinois homeschool convention up near the Chicagoland area and also a smaller convention in the southern part of the state. They help keep us up to date on laws and offer much needed encouragement for homeschoolers.

I caution homeschoolers in Illinois to be weary of the State Board of Education website because they have forms that they recommend that homeshoolers fill out, but these are NOT legally required for home education in the state of Illinois. That website also contains false information regarding homeschool laws in the state of Illinois. HSLDA.org Homeschool Legal Defense has been contacted regarding this information and the attorneys with HSLDA have requested that the Illinois State Board of Education removed the information from their website, but as of yet they have not done so.

Thankful that we have one of the BEST states to homeschool in! The laws in Illinois are so homeschool friendly!

    Thanks for the links,
    Moe
