Simple Cabbage Patch Doll Costume

Growing up I loved Cabbage Patch. I had one with red hair, one with brown hair, one boy…. okay, okay…I know you get it it! Yes, I am a child of the 80s and it shows! That being said, last year when it came time to choose a costume for my 5 month old, it didn’t take long before I knew exactly what I needed to choose. This simple cabbage patch doll costume took no prep, no time, and no hassle. It was just what I needed with a new baby and just starting homeschool.

It’s a pretty known fact that I am a procrastinator and last year’s Halloween decisions were no different. I tend to hold off until the last possible minute, even though I usually had the best intentions early on.

Last year, I could not decide on a costume for Super B. Between new mommy brain and just starting homeschool, my brain was mush. I just kept forgetting to make a choice and order something. I had seen some pretty adorable costumes on Pinterest and had thought of some easy costumes to make myself. In the past I had made a monkey, a family of ghosts, and a family of robots… so I really wanted to make my baby’s costume, but I was running out of time.

One thing we constantly heard as we walked through stores and down the street was “Oh I thought you had a doll!” We heard this more than once and thought is was funny, so why not make her a doll for Halloween!

Cabbage Patch Doll Costume Wig

{This wig is pictured from the Etsy Shop where I bought the wig ,but you can find it on sale on Amazon right now, since the Etsy shop is sold out}

That’s when I found this amazing wig on Etsy! I kid you not, I emailed the shop owner on October 23rd and had the wig in my hand by October 28th!

Now, I just had to come up with an outfit to match. I knew I didn’t want to spend a ton of money and I knew I wanted the outfit to look straight out of the 80’s.

I was just about to head to the thrift store (since this is my go to for all things cool), but first I wanted to check through all the clothes people had donated to us when we had Super B.

Can you believe, someone actually had given us some super cute (totally 80’s) overalls. And there you have it. The costume was complete!

This is one of my absolute favorite pictures of Super B. Tonight, as I was editing images, Legoman came in and told me she looked just like a doll. It was true.

Those cheeks. Those eyes.

This costume was perfect for her!

Cabbage Patch Baby

You have to remember, last year at this time I was not blogging. In fact, I am not sure I even knew what a blog was. I loved taking pictures, but I had no clue what I was doing. I know I probably could have gotten better pictures, but I am okay with that.

So, I’m curious. What do you think? Do you think she looks like the cabbage patch dolls you grew up with?
