Toddler Proof Your Memories | Photo Management for Busy Families

These Photo Management Tips are brought to you by Lyvehome.

Toddlers are a busy bunch. Always touching, always grabbing, always exploring. If your toddler is anything like mine, they get into EVERYTHING and might even have a special love for your phone! I know mine does. She loves to press buttons, make pretend calls, take pictures, and just explore. Problem is… this leaves all my precious memories vulnerable to a the hands of a toddler.

Toddler Proof Photo Management

I’m excited to have partnered with Lyvehome to share tips for Toddler Proofing your precious memories and offer you the chance to win this awesome photo management tool for yourself!

Stop! No! Wait! Don’t…

Do these phrases sound familiar? In our house, they are common phrases when our little one goes after our phones. The thing is, phones these days aren’t cheap and they hold more than just phone numbers. If you are like me, you use your phone to capture important memories while you are on the go so you don’t miss a moment. But what happens when something happens to your phone?

Unfortunately, you can’t predict when your toddler might do something that means all your photos are lost forever. I thought it might be fun to write up what toddlers think a phone is for (all in good fun, of course).

Toddlers and Cell phones

Okay, Okay… in all seriousness, today we use our phones to capture so many important moments and ,well, life happens. Phones fail, they get dropped, or worse… they fall in toilets. Are you prepared right now to lose what’s on your phone? Do you have everything backed up and safe?

I know I didn’t. My photos were not protected. At least, not until I got my new Lyve Home, that is!

I have always been known for the amount of photos I take, from the time I was in high school to current day. I love taking photographs and capturing important memories. However, nothing makes my get wrench more than when I get that sinking feeling that I have lost all my photos or misplaced the thumb drives they were on. In the day of digital images, photos are so much easier to “lose”, especially when you add a toddler to your busy family dynamics.

Let’s be honest, our photos are our memories! I know the older I get, the more I need the visual reminder of the photos I took during an important life event, or to remember those small details in life that otherwise would pass us by. The last thing I want is for my memories to fade away, without a trace!

Take care of all your memories... for you cannot relive them

5 Tips to Toddler Proof Your Memories

Auto-sync | With the Lyve App, I can snap away anytime I want and know that my images will auto-sync and be safe and sound back at home on my mantel with my Lyve Home device. So just in case the phone hits the ground while I’m on vacation or out about the town, my memories are safe at home.

Back Up, Back Up, Back Up | I can’t say this enough. My techie husband strongly believes in backing up anything important 3 times in 3 different places. Now that I have my Lyve Home, I can automatically back up my memories until I get the chance to do the rule of threes (because we all know how busy life is with a toddler).

Use Old Phones | Once you are done with an old phone or get ready for an upgrade, keep that old one for your little toddler to use. When they go to reach for your new phone with all your newest memories, you can substitute for a phone that still lights up, makes noises, and reacts in all the same ways. The only difference is that your memories stay safe and protected.

Cases | I’ve never been a huge lover of cases, but with little fingers reaching for my phone all moments of the day, it has become imperative! A $10 purchase can save you the $300 it might cost to get your LCD replaced. I mean, not that I would know how much that would cost or anything.

Don’t Let Busy Get in the Way | This last tip is more about capturing your memories more than anything. Don’t let the busy life of having a toddler keep you from capturing the joy and laughter of this time in your busy family’s life. Take your phone with you, snap that picture, and know that it is safe and protected at home.

This sounds really handy and a great giveaway! I love your list of things that toddlers think about phones, especially whether it will sink. Haha – that describes my son perfectly

So glad you liked it! I debated putting it in, but just thought it was fun 🙂

  2. Great post and what a cool little box! I’m loving it the simplicity and the peace of mind not having to worry about all the photos on my phone! Thanks for sharing, I’ve been nervous about losing all my newborn baby photos.

  3. I am guilty of losing my cell phone weekly. I freak each time I get separated from it. There is so much stored on that one little device, so I really appreciate your suggestions for how to keep cell phones safe.

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

Thank you! Man, losing your phone has to be gut wrenching!

I have been looking for a solution to getting years of photos/videos off phones and computers so we can enjoy our memories. Lyve is the answer and I love the box…makes me smile.

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

Wonderful! So glad you like it!

  5. Cases are essential! I can imagine what my kids would have been like had we owned cell phones when they were tiny little beings!

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

Our littles one’s name is “beep beep” due to the amount she presses buttons.

  6. How cool! I misplace my phone almost every other day.

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

Too bad this doesn’t help you find your phone.

  7. I wish I had known about this a couple months ago. I had to reset my phone and lost lots of photos. Lyve would have Mommy proofed our memories for us!

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

That is perfect! Yes, its great for if you fill your memory card too. Just sync and keep taking shots! I could use that for sure!

  8. Awesome review! I have 3 sets of busy fingers Lyve would help me protect! I think the coolest feature is the auto-backup/live sync…I would loooooove that!

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

So happy you love it! I hope you win! 🙂

  9. These are great tips! I think backing up your phone is super important even if you don’t have kids that play with them. 🙂

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

I agree! I have so many awesome things I could say about this tool. I just chose to focus on the busy mom/toddler aspect since that is what we are living and breathing right now.

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

Really? Man, my oldest son put 3 phones in the toilet when he was two. A bag of rice can only do so much to save a phone.

  10. I love the auto-sync feature and beautiful sleek design of the device!

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

Isn’t that cool! I love how pretty it is!

  11. That is a seriously cool gadget! I am so bad at backing up my pictures and stuff from my phone.

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

Isn’t it neat! It syncs from thumb drives, computers and everything so everything is one place too! Not just phones!

  12. I will have to check out that app – I have 3000 pictures on my phone that aren’t backed up. I nearly cried the other day when I thought I lost my phone.

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

Oh no! That sounds scary! This would be perfect for you!

  13. Oh. My. Word! I had no idea such a thing as this existed but it’s about time! lol Once device to quickly and easily organize all those photos. I have 4 kids and a 5th on the way and we are drowning in sweet pics over here that I rarely get to see. I would LOVE to use this tool to keep our memories handy. My kids LOVE to look back through photos and I have no doubt we would all spend a lot of time enjoying trips down memory lane with this thing. *Please!!! pick me! lol*

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

I love your story! My kids LOVE looking at pics too! My kids are constantly asking me to open up the app now. They are loving having it anywhere we go!

  14. My daughter has GOT to look into this. Her 3 year old is just brutal with her phone and I know she’s lost several treasured images she has stored on her phone either because Kennedy decided to see if the phone could handle her weight, and the most recent, she wanted to take a picture of her fish . . . underwater! Clownfish are very intrigued by iPhones.

  15. My daughter loves to chew on my phone. I have an app that uploads my photos to a cloud as soon as they are taken so they are safe. I can’t imagine losing all of those precious memories. Anyone that has a small child or toddler needs to do this!

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

What great advice. The great thing about this device is that it not only syncs the photos but it organizes them and makes them accessible from any of your devices. Its really cool!

  16. Tina Kirkpatrick

What an awesome device. I know what it is like to lose photos. I had a computer crash, thought I lost all my photos. several GIGs of photos. A friend was able to recover most and put them on an external drive. phew…except that inexplicably died. The worst loss was my grandsons baby pics. Since I’m the main photographer this had everyone freaking out! Luckily i had made some dvds for people and slowly started finding the backups on photo places where I’ve ordered. It was such a process and I don’t have each photo, or a lot of scenic and animal photos. To add to it, the same year my son’s family were at the beach and a sudden monster wave pushed water way up the beach and ruined 5 (yes I said FIVE!) phones. 4 recovered, but not the pics on them. It even washed up over the stroller. Scary! I am always backing up and sharing photos, but the kids..their lives are so much busier and think that there is always ‘tomorrow’! I’d love to gift them one of these so they won’t lose any more photos. With an active 10 year old and a very busy and curious 2 1/2 year old it would be invaluable!

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

What a perfect gift! I can already think of some that would be a great candidate for this as a gift as well!

  17. As a first time Memaw, I am always snapping photos of the most awesome granddaughter in the world. I am also a kindergarten teacher and all day long, I love capturing moments to send to the parents so they can relive our day. I am not a techy person but the LYVE Home seems like something I may be able to tackle and use on a daily basis for both personal and professional. I LOVE taking photos of all my kinderfriends as well as my grandbaby.

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

I think this would be perfect for you!

  18. My little guy is CONSTANTLY stealing my iPhone for his own personal amusement. I’ve learned rather quickly to auto sync my pictures up after he almost deleted over 800 pics by trying to reset my phone.

  19. I think my teen daughter needs this as much as any mom.. She takes a TON of photos and does not back then up regularly . What a great system. I love that you can sync from all devices and access anywhere. And there is nothing moe fun than going down memory lane, revisiting old photos …

  20. I have been wanting to do this,. If only I can find the time. Syncing from other devices is very helpful.

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

      Ha. I understand!

  21. Melanie M.

Between having my phone thrown in the toilet by a toddler who was feeling neglected, and having another one stolen out of my locked car I invested in a protection plan for the phone years ago… That plan has saved me hundreds of dollars. That doesn’t protect the memories though! I am guilty of not downloading those photos often enough. This would be a perfect solution! I also love that this gets those pictures off the computers and phones and on display!

    1. Lemon Lime Adventures

It really is a wonderful tool!

  22. Mary

I would love this. I have lost many a picture to my toddler’s hands. 🙁

  23. Becca mala

I had almost 2,000 pix and 250 videos (including birth of our 2nd child) on my phone.. Yes it’s on the iPhone because at the last minute, our super nice camera died- lol. Anyways, after numerous drops, spills and missing in action moments, I decided to backup these moments into our computer. Then I backed that up onto a Zip drive.. I was stressed the entire time. This device seems like a perfect solution for someone like me! I take so many pix and videos not only of family but of my dancers at my job. This would be a great addition to our house and work:) thanks for sharing!!

  24. ellen casper

Love that it can interact with so many different devices and love that all photos are in one location

  25. I have a bunch of pictures that I thought I e-mailed to myself. But some didn’t load properly and I had already deleted them before I realized what was going on and so I lost them. This would be so nice to have to avoid that! I also needed the reminder to back everything up. I have so many files on my computer for our homeschool and if something happened I would be lost! And I would lose money I had spent too since there are so many e-book options these days!

  26. Divz

Wow. I was just thinking the other day – I cannot absolutely afford to loose so many precious pics of my nephew that are on my phone. Transferring them is really a hassle, I end up emailing *some* but there are so many and every time there is an iOS update, I have to hold my breath and close my fingers that all goes well. LyveHome looks heaven sent just to address my anxieties!

  27. KATIE LEWIS MAYER

WOW! 2 TB of memory! I have 40,000+ pictures of my daughter and she is only 2. Now I have a new little one and would be heart broken to lose these pictures!
