Our Weekly Guide to Daily Lesson Plans, Activities, and Resources

Weekly Homeschool Lesson Plans

This week is better late than never right? Here we go again… another week, another week of plans. Here you will find my plans for our week. On Monday (or Tuesday this week) I will post what I think will happen during the week, and by next Monday I will have updated the plans and added some fun pictures and my reflections on the week. My goal is to give you a raw, uncut look at homeschool week to week.

This format might change as I tweak it to bring you the most resourceful weekly homeschool lesson plan I can.

Tips for Using this weekly lesson plan:

  • {Plans are written in black}
  • As the week progresses, I will change the accomplished items to green and cross out the items we do not get to.
  • I am attempting to teach homeschool without textbooks. Meaning at this point I have not purchased a set curriculum or guide.
  • Some of the links I provide are affiliate links, meaning a small proceed from any purchase supports Lemon Lime Adventures and is greatly appreciated.
  • All plans, thoughts and comments are honest and my own opinion.

This Week’s Homeschool Lesson Plan

Readingwhat we did in homeschool

*Continue and tweak our Reading Routines (we are feeling pretty good about our Read to Self and Read To Someone time. This week I hope to step up the Listen to Reading and Read for Meaning portion of our curriculum.
Work towards monthly goals:

*Legoman: Read Stink (Book #1): The Incredible Shrinking Kid

*Bones: Read Bathtime for Biscuit (My First I Can Read), Biscuit and the Baby (My First I Can Read), Biscuit Finds a Friend (My First I Can Read Book )

* Find Sight Words, Use Sight Words and Play Sight words games from book

Read Aloud:The Little Prince

Reading Instruction: Non-fiction Text Features

{Reflection} We had such a fun week of reading! Both boys could not put the books down. Legoman finished his Stink book. Bones finished reading Biscuit and read Hop on Pop and a few Elephant and Piggy Books. We found some sight words that he needs to work on and we found some word patterns that will help him. He is struggling with noticing that words have patterns.

Writing

*Practice and Continue writing in our journals and working on stories

Shared Writing Instruction: Model writing from a small moment in time.

*Work toward January Writing Goals
*Bones: Create a Student Dictionary, Explore various paper types, Sentence Practice
*Legoman: Create a Student Dictionary, Topic Lists, Folder with Sentence Starters

{reflection} Writing was great this week. I held off on any direct writing instruction because I wanted to foster the fluency and desire to write. This week we focused on writing in our journals every day. After 5 days of journal writing both boys decided to do some online writing and type one of their journals. By the end of the week, both boys were able to grab a journal, sit down unassisted, and produce a page of readable writing. Since writing has been a struggle in the past, I will accept this 100%!

Project

Explore Rocks
*Read Books about Rocks, Add Questions to Our Chart
*Make Rock Candy
*Do a scratch test to determine Rock hardness
*Sort Rocks

*Watch videos about rocks

Notes: Legoman is interested in crystals and making rock candy, rock cycle, and types of rocks

Bones is interested in what is made of rock, uses of rocks, and properties of rocks

{Reflection} We made rocks several different ways and both boys investigated one aspect of Rocks that they were interested in. The boys are still fascinated by rocks and crystals.

Reflections on this Weeks Lesson Plans

I would chalk this week up for a highly successful homeschool week. We got to almost everything on our list. I saw progress in the kids. We had fun while learning, and we enjoyed our time learning together. Can’t ask for too much more than that.
