With snow outside… That was the BIG interest today! However with Bones and Super B being sick, we brought the Snow inside. It was such a big hit!

The expressions on B are priceless.What great Snow Globe projects.
You come up with such great projects. It is obvious, all 3 children are learning, experiencing and inventing so much more than they would Ever get in a public school setting, or any other !

In the heat of the moment… 👇
I know you want nothing more than to know
what to say
what to do
It pains you to not
fix what’s wrong
stop the behavior
solve the problem
take away the pain.
But NOW is not the time.
As hard as it is,
your child needs you to just be.
Quiet your voice.
Soften your body.
Move a little closer.
Listen intently...

Ignore the onlookers,
Shush the naysayers,
Quiet the thought monsters,
And simply be.
Be the calm in the storm.
The steady force.
The safe place.
The solid foundation.
And know,

Wishing you had more time for your kids?
🫶Opportunities to connect are everywhere.
And most of them dont require any extra time.⏳
Sometimes we pick up our phones out of habit,
or we do the chores ourselves
rather than go get the kids to do it together,
or we busy ourselves
while theyre doing something
instead of stopping and joining in...
with just a little intentional effort,
a tweak of our use of time,
a shift in our priorities,
we can go from just being
in the same room at the same time,
to actually connecting. ❤️
Those small moments add up
to a stronger bond, deeper connection,
more trust, and growing together.

It leaves you with more fuel in the tank on the hard days,
quicker recovery during a tense moment or meltdown,
increased patience, and better communication.

When I was a parent deep in survival mode,
my ability to do anything other than
play defense against meltdowns was non-existent.

Heres the truth:
The front of your brain (the prefrontal cortex)
is the part of the brain that is responsible
for your executive functions to operate properly.
When we are stressed, it disrupts the connection,
making it near impossible to be organized,
remember information, and work productively.

If you’re raising a challenging child, you are,
by definition, stressed.
In order to reduce your stress,
You have to give yourself permission to come first.

Youve spent all day helping, supporting and guiding your kid only for them to throw a loud You never do anything for me! with arms crossed and possibly some stomping feet.

Now the thoughts start clamoring in your mind:
They never appreciate anything I do for them!
Well, Ill just stop doing anything and see how they like it!

Lets hit the pause button for a moment here.

While hearing things like this from our kids can bring up hurt and frustration, if we can remember that all behavior is communication it will help in these moments to not take their words or behavior personally.

So while the initial thoughts may pop up, lets try on some thought swaps to help stay calm in these moments and get curious as to what else may be going on with our kid.
