10 Inspiring Toddler Reading Spaces

One of the easiest ways to get toddlers interested in reading is to fill their environment with engaging and inviting literacy materials. One way to do this is by creating toddler reading spaces that both you and your toddler can enjoy together.

Inspiring Reading spaces for Toddlers

Early literacy is such an important development skill for children to learn. In fact, it is one that can be started as soon as a baby is born (some might argue, before). However, when babies become toddlers it can be tricky to harness their energy long enough to read them a story. That is why I am over at Melissa & Doug today, sharing some simple tips for encouraging early reading skills with toddlers.

Creating a space for your toddler to read can be incredibly fun if you have some inspiring examples to look at. One of my favorite places to decorate in our home is actually our reading space. I am constantly adjusting and changing to encourage all of my children to read, especially my toddler. Setting up your own toddler reading space can be a lot of fun, especially if you follow a few simple tips.

Tips for Creating Awesome Toddler Reading Spaces

1. Keep it simple

2. Put books on toddler’s level

3. Make it cozy with pillows and blankets

4. Make it inviting with your toddler’s favorite stuffed animal or doll

5. Create the space in a well lit area or near the window for natural light

6. Use baskets and bins to hold the book to make it easier for your toddler to access the books.

7. Mix up the area with a variety of reading materials and types of books.
